Economic Cooperation
has been realized in the framework of Azerbaijan
– Japan Joint Economic Commission,
which was established in 1999 by the decree
of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
There were four meetings discussing economic
cooperation between the two countries. The
last meeting was successfully held onFebruary 25-25, 2008 in Tokyo, Japan.
Chairman from Azerbaijani side – Abid
Sharifov, Deputy Prime Minister
of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The Chairman of Joint Economic Commission
from Japanese side –Yoichi Kobayashi, Senior Managing Executive Officer of ITOCHU
Corporation.

Inter-parliamentary Friendship League
was established to strengthen close ties
between parliamentarians and cooperate on
exchange of information about legislation,
etc.

Maharramov, Rector of Baku State
University, member of Azerbaijan Parliament
(Milli Majlis)
Chairman from Japanese side – Akira
Amari, member of House of Representatives of Parliament.
Azerbaijan and Japan both have rich and
deep roots of culture, traditions and history
affiliating with Asian image and values.
These values unite us in favor of mutual
trust and friendship. Both countries support
each other in international arena. Azerbaijan
keeps track of Japan on pattern of economic
development policy.
